Summary/Abstract: The presented publication discusses the problems of the functioning of the institutional support system for people with intellectual disabilities and the mentally ill based on the analysis of selected institutions in the Lodz Voivodship. The assumptions of the social model of interpretation of disability were presented with particular emphasis on the approach based on the implementation of human rights along with a review of legal regulations shaping the social policy towards people with disabilities. The book presents the potential institutional resources of forms of support for adults with intellectual and mental disabilities and their exemplification are the results of the analyzes carried out based on empirical material. Due to the socially important subject, both researchers and practitioners, as well as families / carers of adult people with disabilities will certainly be interested in the publication."It is particularly valuable to present this issue in an interdisciplinary context (...)
