Summary/Abstract: The book contains essays and studies on the richness aspects and meanings of fantasy art in the field of modern and postmodern literature and film. It presents issues connected with film adaptation, especially works of authors that are key to the image of contemporary fantasy, i.e. S. Lem, J.R.R. Tolkien, Ph.K. Dick, as well as important, selected themes of this art, e.g. ways of depicting nightmares on the screen or the key figure in the new art of horror - the zombie. He also discusses important but less obvious issues, such as Jewish themes present in fantasy art, for example, literary and film images of the golem and dybbuk. The book constitutes the author's invitation to further discussions and research findings.
