Summary/Abstract: The publication, according to Krystyna Pietrych’s original concept, consists of the following parts: the introduction, Between Parody and Prophecy, presenting the most important interpretative tropes of the poem; facsimiles of Pug Iron Stove (JA z jednej strony i JA z drugiej strony mego mopsożelaznego piecyka) from 1920, a modernized edition of the Stove together with an editorial commentary and footnotes, the version of the poem published in Ciemne świecidło (1968), and the text A Bit on the “Stove” (Coś niecoś o “Piecyku”), which is Wat’s authorial commentary on the early work. Illustrations by Wojciech Grabowski provide a special complement to the whole work. They are the result of many years of the artist’s fascination with the extraordinary poem and a suggestion of its visual interpretation. The book as a whole offers a contextual and multifaceted reading of one of the most enigmatic texts of Polish Modernism.
