Summary/Abstract: The phrase "The 21st century will be the century of Asia" has become one of the most widely used among international experts. The review "Ukraine and the countries of East, Southeast and South Asia: results of 2020 and prospects of development" offered to the reader vividly illustrates its justice. The authors managed to give in a small text not only an in-depth analysis of political, economic, trade, investment ties of Ukraine with a huge region of the globe, but also to outline the main directions of development of this dynamic area. // The review, as expected, pays considerable attention to Ukraine's relations with the People's Republic of China. China became the main trading partner of Ukraine in 2020, is one of the largest investors, and in the future may take first place in this area. The real breakthrough made by the Ukrainian agrarian complex on the Chinese market is rightly noted. There are other areas in which domestic exporters expect success. Problems are also noted. We are talking about the poor domestic investment climate, frequent changes in legislation, lack of the rule of law, and in some cases - bureaucratic red tape in the consideration and implementation of joint projects. The Ukrainian side should consider how our neighbors, the countries of the European Union, are building their trade and economic relations with China.
