Summary/Abstract: The collection of scientific papers analyzes political processes in Ukraine, the role of political actors and subjects of politics in the process of developing strategies for the development of the state during the independence period. On the basis of a wide array of domestic and foreign sources, the problems of influence of socio-cultural, socio-economic and external factors are analyzed, which, from the authors' point of view, have affected the nature of both the strategies of socio-political development of the state and their weakness or absence. As Ukraine is a country with poorly functioning political institutions, particular attention is paid to the role of state leaders and political elites in political processes in Ukraine.
