Summary/Abstract: The very book constitutes a collection of essays combining interpretative-analytic considerations on particular works by Tadeusz Różewiczwith an attempt to define the specificity of his play in references andevaluation of the modi operandi of the world surrounding him. It is alsoa reflection on his attitude towards the most important categories ofhumanistics, i.e. the subjectivity and poetical „I”, history and the loadof experience, the congruence of the poetic word to the life matter, ironyand self-irony, identity built on memory and a reflexive reception of realityin its most important and trivial forms, as well as others’ works andwords included in a poetic fabric of his own works.Intertextuality of the works by Różewicz is hence very widely understood:an intertext is both a different literary work (also a different textby Różewicz himself), and a cultural formation of a given epoch, a specialhistorical moment, covering various forms of transmission, a languageof media or criticism addressed to poet’s works, thanks to whichthe researchers, experts and translators try to reveal „the mystery ofa poem” by Różewicz. And despite the fact that particular sketches treatabout various aspects of his writings (connections his poems have withpoetry by Norwid, Staff or metapoetic or worldview-historiosophicissues), some of them reach as far as the joint issues, which brings abouta poetic density and coherence when it comes to Różewicz consistentlybuilding a characteristic trend of thematology and a series of referencepoints around a group of basic notions and cultural pillars.
