Summary/Abstract: In this book, the author continues his research on Spanish football, which is impossible to escape from. Together with the previous one (History, nationalism and identity. The thing about football in Spain, 2020), it forms a kind of football diptych. In this, he focuses on showing how history, politics and the media in the country on the Ebro are intertwined thanks to football, which has turned into a working instrument of the official discourse of power. On the one hand, by referring to the history of Spain, specific political activities and media reports, it shows the importance of politicians, presidents of football associations and clubs and journalists in creating the image of Spanish football, and on the other, how the ubiquitous social media allows those excluded from this discourse or those who are critical of it, undertaking various types of activities and social campaigns aimed at breaking it and blurring it.
