- Summary/Abstract:The subject of this research paper is (1978-2001, Paris), a Russian exile literary journal. The journal, founded in 1978 Paris by Andrey Sinyavskiy (1925-1997) and his wife Maria Rozanova (*1929), shaped fundamentally the intellectual life and literary culture of the so‐called third‐wave emigration in the 1970s and 1980s. Andrey Sinyavskiy’s essays published in during this period play central role in the research. An analysis of his work in a wider context of third-wave emigration reveals Sinyavskiy’s attitude to principal questions regarding the role of Soviet dissent and the future of Russia as well as its relationship with Western countries. On this background, Andrey Sinyavskiy’s pluralist concept is presented.

- Summary/Abstract:The aim of the paper is to present a horror caused by the Second World War, and in particular the reality of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. The whole paper i divided into two main parts. In the first one i would like to present briefly the profiles of two men Rudolf Vrba and Tadeusz Borowski and their lives before they were sent to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. In the second part i want to present their literary works, which are testimonies of the few who survived the hell of the concentration camp and were able to tell about this reality. In my deliberations, i focus on comparing what each of these men felt, experienced, what he learned, what attitude he presented to himself and other inmates and supervisors. On the basis of this information, i am able to create a picture of the reality of a concentration camp, not only its rules and principles, but above all a world in which there is no human identity, only a tattooed number and where any moral choice brings physical or mental suffering, and later death.

- Summary/Abstract:This report focuses on the works of the modern writer Andrei Astvatsaturov, namely, on the image of Saint Petersburg in his novels. Despite of the fact that Petersburg in literature is well studied topic, there are only few critical works on modern authors’ Petersburg and Astvatsaturov is not an exception. We often see the city with the atmosphere of fear and mystery through the frightened child’s eyes. The most suitable season for Astvatsaturov’s Petersburg is autumn; the insane gaiety is not typical for the city, it is more gloomy than joyful. Its frown can be seen in the feeling of fear, moisture and enclosed spaces. In the whole, Astvatsaturov’s works supplement our vision of Petersburg and Leningrad and make this city even more mysterious.

- Keywords:Catholic Modern; Pavol Gašparovič Hlbina; poetry of the 30th; poeticism; spiritual poetry;
- Summary/Abstract:In the contribution i offer an analysis of the central stage of Hlbina’s creative period, when he was a well-established author who published poetry magazines and also various poetry considerations, but he was still alone and the only author of Slovak modern spiritual poetry. The greatest contribution of Hlbina poetry is seen in the application of the new authentic form of spirituality that he has achieved through his own creation of poetic prayer as a reliable medium between God and the poet. The aiming of the poetic expression of the poetic expression through the play with the word meant for Hlbina the corresponding form of new spirituality and at the same time clarification of the contemporary Slovak poetry by applying the elements of avant-garde. In the collection of Cesta do raja, Hlbina attempted to combine seemingly unrelated: new individual poetic vision and expression with traditional belief. It moves between Franciscan humility, overexposed simplicity, faithfulness to the tradition of Christian literature, and therefore does not impose biblical motifs, saints, prayers, traditional symbols.
