Summary/Abstract: “Young Slavistics III” is the sixth consecutive publication in a series of annual publications of doctoral students from the Department of Slavonic Studies in Brno. The book was introduced by a study from Prof. Ivo Pospíšil called “Literary History as a Reflection of Memory and Value (with Regard to Slavonic Literatures)”. There are also ten studies by doctoral students of different Slavonic fields, in which the students focus on specific chosen topics of Slavonic literatures, languages and cultures. Their research is based on dissertations currently being prepared. Therefore, the publication is a presentation of current research topics solved in Brno by young students of Slavonic studies and at the same time they indicate the trends which this emerging generation of researchers brings to contemporary Slavonic research.

- Summary/Abstract:The author of the present article deals with the revitalization of literary history since the beginning of the 21st century in contrast to the prevalence of the synchronous functional approach in the first half of the 20th century. The contemporary attempts at the “new literary history” are regarded as reflecting the boom of fashionable and very often shallow, unsubstantial discourses expressing nearly with the same words the traditional concepts. The necessity of the deeply conceived theory of literary history predicted in the 1930s by René Wellek must be accompanied by the practical, representative, real histories of national literatures or even supranational complexes, such as general literature, related literatures or even world literature. He also mentions the reflexive and appellative function of art. He demonstrates the ambiguity of literary texts and variability of its readers’ and critics’ interpretations determined by the suppositional textual strata and their links to reality, but also by the modifications of reality itself. In the end, he gives several examples of the histories of national literatures, mainly Slavonic/Russian in the Czech environment reflecting the Czech cultural background and experience stressing the importance of individual histories preferring them to team works which often lose their own unrepeatable faces.

- Summary/Abstract:The article summarizes the current research state of the key filiation of the Polish poetry Generation 68 and early films by Krzysztof Kieślowski, which is defining against “the undepicted world” (Julian Kornhauser a Adam Zagajewski) or “the fight against fake representation of language” (Slavoj Žižek), as described by Marek Haltof, a film scientist, in his work. In this respect, Haltof’s monograph draws on the literary-critical collection called “Świat nie przedstawiony” (1974) by Kornhauser and Zagajewski which is recognized as a program manifesto for Generation 68. He sees the filiation with Kieślowski’s films as various manifestations of one cultural tendency in 1968–1975 and thus he is limited to early documentary films. The aim of the paper is to broaden Haltof’s concept by the conclusions of the second key work characterizing Generation 68, which is the study by Stanisław Barańczak called “Nieufni i zadufani” (1971) and describe the metafictional strategy of the distrust of language as a significant feature of Kieślowski’s film work in all its periods as well as genres, that is both documentary and fiction films from 1968 to 1994.

- Summary/Abstract:The cruel experience from the First World War was reflected in the work of a number of Czech writers. Fráňa Šrámek was one of the participants in battles at the front and his personal experience from the war left its mark on him. The article deals with Šrámek’s prose as well as drama work which has war and war topics in the foreground. We believe that this issue has not yet been sufficiently addressed. Dramas including “Hagenbek”, “Zvony” and “Soud”, a collection of stories“Žasnoucí voják”, selected letters from the war “Listy z fronty”, and a novel called “Tělo” will be researched. The aim of the article is to introduce Fráňa Šrámek not only as a poet of “youth” but to show to what extent the war experience was reflected in his work.

- Summary/Abstract:The aim of the paper is to analyse the reactions as well as responses of that time to the publications of Anna Horáková-Gašparíková. This especially concerns the works which impressed the Czechoslovak scientific community the most, including her rigorous thesis called “Povstanie Rákocziho a Slovania”, a historical monograph titled “Tisícročné Slovensko” and diaries published in book form called “U Masarykovcov. Spomienky osobnej archivárky T. G.Masaryka”. The publication of the long-awaited diary in the 1990s sparked a number of responses and dozens of reviews were published by well-known historians as well as less known authors who felt the need to respond. In the paper, we are more specifically dealing with what the authors criticized Anna Horáková- -Gašparíková for and to what extent there were author’s unintentional mistakes resulting from her position as the archivist of the President of Czechoslovakia as well as her devotion to the idea of Czechoslovakism. Most authors appreciated the historical and social significance of author’s work, despite the shortcomings they reproach her for. The monograph called “Tisícročné Slovensko” received strong criticism and many consider this work to be an unsuccessful attempt to write about our history.

- Summary/Abstract:Čedomir Cvetković (1925-2014), a prominent Yugoslav diplomat as well as one of the first Serbs to speak Finnish, was instrumental in the significant development of Serbian-Finnish relations. Whether it was creating the Serbian-Finnish association or free Finnish lessons in Serbia (Belgrade, Obrenovac). As an expert on Swedish and Finnish language, he participated in many meetings of Yugoslav and Scandinavian politicians as an interpreter. He was interested in the similarities between Serbian and Finnish literature as well as all about Finnish culture. His educational activities included many lectures, seminars, studies, articles, etc., which acquainted Serbs with this Nordic country. Between 1978 and 1982, he served as a counsellor at the Yugoslav Embassy in Helsinki. Among other things, he worked as a writer as well as translator from Finnish and Swedish into Serbian. Thanks to his work, more than 10 titles by major Nordic authors were translated into Serbian.

- Summary/Abstract:The aim of this paper is to analyse kinship terminology in Western and Southern Slavonic languages and to detect their origin. Kinship terminology is very stable, however influences from other languages and the time since dissolution of Slavonic unity might have an impact on the vocabulary. By finding all the terms for kinship in these languages, and by finding their origin, we can conclude, that most of the kinship terms in Western and Southern Slavonic languages can be traced back to Proto-Indo-European language, although some discrepancies have occurred. Among those there is influence of Turkish and German language, as well as different way of creating terms for siblingʼs children and parentʼs siblingʼs children. Discrepancies can be also seen in naming men that entered family thanks to wedding (husbands of aunts, sisters and daughters). Even thought several other differences are present, in general kinship terminology in Western and Southern Slavonic languages is very stable.

- Summary/Abstract:Terrorism, the creation of which is associated with the second half of the 19th century, developed in the Russian empire territory. Terrorism in the concept of revolutionists represented a phenomenon linked to the ancient concept of the sacrificial ritual and it was considered to be the only way out of the ever-deepening social crisis. In response to the unprecedented assassinations, the victims of which were representatives of the government’s mechanism, a literary myth appeared about a terrorist-revolutionist who was supposed to explain and justify the violent acts in terms of their contribution to the future revolution. The myth, which was born and developed in artistic literature, is a collection of independent literary works in which a terrorist is the main protagonist. The article examines the connection of principles of ancient sacrificial rituals with terrorist acts and the subsequent creation of a literary myth about a terrorist, whose protagonist went through a significant change from the second half of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century.

- Summary/Abstract:František Kautman, in his study of the Czech national identity, observes that we are not born with the awareness of which nation we belong to but that during our adolescence we create opinions which lead us to know what nation we are a part of. Undoubtedly, parents, school, surrounding environment, etc., contribute to the perception of the world as well as formation of the individual. In this case, we necessarily need culture, language and literature to educate a nation. Language is the most important component in the initial phase of forming a national identity without which we cannot understand culture and literature. This formula would be ideal. However, what happens if a territory is a part of more than one country in a single century? What if the only answer to a question of nationality is the hometown name? These considerations are partly solved by Maxim Dupeshko, a Ukrainian writer, in his novel called “A Story Worth an Entire Apple Orchard”, which serves as an example of dealing with the issue of searching for national identity in Ukrainian literature.

- Summary/Abstract:The author of the present study deals with the picture of family and family relationships which gained an important place especially in Russian literature of the 19th century. The study is focused on the interpretation of the motif of so-called accidental family in five works by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky (1821–1881). This motif connects four novels Netochka Nezvanova (1849), Humiliated and Insulted (1861), The Adolescent (1875) and The Brothers Karamazov (1880) with A Writer’s Diary which is a work moving on the borders between belles-lettres and documentary literature. According to Dostoyevsky’s views on family and family happiness, the author tries to interpret the motif in connection with developing of this motif in Dostoyevsky’s works and with the genre of a diary as well. Among the works by Dostoyevsky the author highlighted an important role of A Writer’s Diary because of the fact that especially this work serves as a key to the interpretation of the motif of an accidental family.

- Summary/Abstract:In the introductory part of the article, we briefly introduced theoretical knowledge of advertising and using specialized literature, we defined the basic concepts. We focused on the concept of style and we characterized the style of advertising. In the second part, we concentrated on the style of the contemporary Czech and Russian online advertising which we described on the basis of Internet text advertising. On specific examples, we illustrated selected means of language, typical for advertising in the field of education and we outlined the basic features of the advertising style. Above all, we focused on the means of language that are used to make contact with the advertising addressee, how to appeal to the reader, the vocabulary and some of the syntactic means used in advertising texts.

- Summary/Abstract:The subject of this research is the concept of man and society in the second half of the 19th century in the context of Russian and Bulgarian literature. The research was carried out using a historical novel by Bulat Okudzhava called “Poor Avrosimov” and a realistic novel by Ivan Vazov titled “Under the Yoke”. Both texts contain specific features caused by different environments and influences which significantly contributed to the nature of the chosen works. The basis of the research is the reflection of the society and its changes by the narrator’s view through literary-scientific and sociological methods as well as comparative analysis. Continuity of both the work and the author forms one of the central pillars in the work. Further, we came to the conclusion that the historiosophical element fulfils an essential function in the works; it is necessary to remember significant historical events and to observe the movement of society as well as influences that affect the life of man. This way, we confirmed that literature fulfils its educational function, which the author greatly contributes to himself.
