Summary/Abstract: Due to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, there is growing interest in the concept of comprehensive security in the Nordic and Baltic region. A comprehensive approach to security, which hails from the Cold War total defence doctrine, incorporates military and non‑military aspects of national security and crisis management. It is seen as a means of making a state and the society more resilient to external pressure, and of creating a favourable operational environment for national defence.
