Summary/Abstract: In the mathematical didactic training of any teacher for primary education, the issue of solving problems is a fundamental one. In this paper we approach the most used types of problems used in learning mathematics for primary school, including: problems with natural numbers and mathematical operations with them, fractions, measurements units, geometrical elements, logical problems. Also are presented the most relevant methods of solving some types of arithmetical problems as: the figurative method, the false hypothesis method, the reduction to unit method, the comparison method, the retrograde method and are indicated solving models. The methodical stages of solving arithmetic problems are also detailed.
