Summary/Abstract: A collection of translations of French and francophone literary texts, showing different types of misfits from the Middle Ages to the 21st century and including both short stories and fragments of novels, as well as letters, fragments of journals or accounts of travels. The characters from the texts – both fictitious and real – represent religious, ethnic and sexual differences, resulting from an illness, social situation, lifestyle. Some of the authors themselves are different and through literature are able to find the opportunity to speak with their own voice, others use their voice to transmit exclusion. The texts, on the one hand, enable the reader to hear what is usually suppressed as it does not belong to the dominant discourse, and on the other hand, allow to capture the mechanism of creating otherness through discourse.
