Summary/Abstract: The study focuses upon the Byzantine literary relic from the end of the 9th century and especially its history within the Slavia Orthodoxa circle. Basically an elaboration of selected Old Testament stories, the Palaea Historica (hereon: PH) is a text combining different genres and styles of narration, has been translated at least twice into the Slavic language and which translations have been circulating in Bulgarian, Serbian, Moldavian and Ruthenian copies dated from the end of 14th century till the beginnings of the 17th century.The commentary to the second Slavic translation of the PH is accompanied by appendices: stemma codicum of the PH II – scheme showing the relations among the copies and groups of copies of the PH II; the table of titles of the chapters in the copies of the PH II; the quoted fragments of The Great Canon of Penance by St.An¬drew of Crete; the edition of selected texts accompanying the PH II in the codices that contain it (series of mystagogical-theological teachings and explications, the biblical Story of Susanna, stories on Old Testament themes, the anti-Latin treatise).
