Summary/Abstract: This fundamental textbook of history of sport deals with the historical periods of physical culture in the past, from ancient times to the origin of modern sports. Besides the world history of physical education, the work deals in detail with the history of sport in Czechoslovakia, not only in the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic, during the WW2 or in the post-war period, but also in the period of communist totalitarian regime.
