Summary/Abstract: The authors explore the topic of preparing students for working in the field through the implementation of socio-educational projects. As an example, they showcase the education model for undergraduate students specializing in care and socio-educational work within social pedagogy in the Department of Social Pedagogy at the University of Łódź.This education model has been developed by a team of staff members of this department. They looked for inspiration among the achievements of social pedagogy, and drew on their own educational and research experience.Helena Radlińska’s views regarding the individual who cooperates with others to change their living environment have been a key guideline throughout the work. The reader is presented with a publication in which the authors elaborate on the framework of their idea of a specialized education model. It is briefly described through a social project and the accompanying dissertation prepared by a student.During the project the student learns more and more about the lives of wards and guardians, while suggesting and implementing improvements. As the work continues, the student steps aside to assess the progress and to couch pertinent observations which eventually transform into a dissertation. The education framework through project delineation and implementation, and teaching an action-taking approach pivot around putting students’ knowledge and skills into practice. As the project starts, students focus on applying proper consideration before, during and after field work, on integrating their own experience, knowledge and information already gathered, with field work and the reflection on events as they occur in practice.
