Summary/Abstract: Julian Tuwim and Jan Brzechwa's works for children are known to all. For several generations, they have entertained readers young and old. Parents read humorous, playful pieces by both poets to their children. There is probably no one in our country who does not know Wacky Duck, Trunky the Elephant, Mr. Nightingale, who is in no hurry to get home for dinner, or inquisitive Stan, who exhausts others with his umpteen questions. The works of both poets are known to grandparents, parents and the very youngest alike. The world might be changing, but the poems of Jan Brzechwa and Julian Tuwim (and not only these works) remain resolutely relevant. But are they received in the same way? Are they interpreted today just as they once were? To what extent is the perception of both poets' work changing in the fluid, dynamically changing reality of the 21st century? To what extent did the works of Brzechwa and Tuwim inspire pre-school teachers, and to what degree do they remain a source of inspiration for modern-day teachers? How has the way of working with the poetic text by both writers changed over the years? These and other questions are posed by the author. She seeks answers to them by delving into the biographies of the poets, studying their works for young readers and those that have been considered suitable for younger audiences over time, and also by analysing teachers' proposals for using both poets' texts in their work with pre-school children. She shows ways of making their texts more accessible to children.
