Summary/Abstract: The purpose of my contribution is to describe the functioning of injunctive statements that express an ironic value. My approach consists in a brief presentation of the theoretical basis, followed by the description of certain pragmatic characteristics of irony and a description of this phenomenon’s mechanisms. I will close with the analysis of an ironic injunctive statement, using the data of the pragmatic approach. This analysis will emphasize the particular characteristics of the way the ironic injunctive statement is functioning.
