Summary/Abstract: A person receives a name at birth and hears it many times a day. It distinguishes him from the surrounding family members - father, mother, as well as in informal communication and in everyday life. Personal German names have a long history, rooted in antiquity. Some ancient Germanic names survived only in historical chronicles and mythopoetic works, others underwent fundamental changes and lost their original meaning, others were borrowed from various sources and gradually transformed. Currently, interest in onomastics has increased significantly. It manifests itself in the appearance of all kinds of books devoted to the secrets of estates.
