Summary/Abstract: The authors, who have just started their works as lecturers, describe their experiences related to their expectations and ideas of teaching foreign languages in China opposed to the reality of such work. They compare the encountered problems with the results of the survey conducted among students learning Polish at Dalian University of Foreign Languages. The findings are dedicated to the people starting their work as lecturers in the Middle Kingdom.
