Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to discuss the specific uses of scientific language in the academic field. Every day the university teaching staff considers what methodology should be used to approach the scientific discourse to undergraduate and postgraduate students. In the present intervention we propose a specific methodology to teach or improve, as the case may be, the written expression of university students. This methodological proposal has been put into practice at the University of Jaén during the current academic year 2017/18 in a Written Expression Workshop obtained in public call (2016/17). This workshop had more than 200 students enrolled (of disparate disciplines), of which more than 50% have passed the proposed tests to improve their writing.
