Summary/Abstract: The study aims to present a historical perspective on national minorities in Hungaryby tracking quantitative and qualitative changes. Moreover, it directs the reader’s attention toparticular regional values by using the example of Békés County and putting them in the contextof state and church tendencies that involve the entire country. The author’s intention is to showthe role of various churches in running different types of school as well as the minorities’ fightfor preserving their identity. The implemented methods include statistical surveys and analyzingcentral documents and the county’s educational files regarding the national groups.
