- Summary/Abstract:The study aims to present a historical perspective on national minorities in Hungaryby tracking quantitative and qualitative changes. Moreover, it directs the reader’s attention toparticular regional values by using the example of Békés County and putting them in the contextof state and church tendencies that involve the entire country. The author’s intention is to showthe role of various churches in running different types of school as well as the minorities’ fightfor preserving their identity. The implemented methods include statistical surveys and analyzingcentral documents and the county’s educational files regarding the national groups.

- Summary/Abstract:The paper deals with regional education taught at schools in Slovakia. The theoreticalpart provides an analysis of the relation between multicultural education in the global world andregional education with its individual dimensions and possibilities provided in this field by theschool environment. The authors also present selected results of the empirical research they haveconducted, claiming that in recent years the issue of regional education has duly been in focusand, accordingly, teachers are willing to creatively transfer the recommendations of curriculardocuments into their everyday practice. In this way, they cooperate with pupils’ parents in themain, as well as with local organizations.

- Summary/Abstract:The contemporary trends of global development strongly alter the functioning of peoplein a multicultural environment. What is important, is the contents of school education which wouldhelp students find themselves in different social conditions. This notion includes regional traditionnecessary to shape the identity of individuals and to prevent their alienation. The presenteddescriptions of the cultivation of the Silesian traditions at schools indicate that the content ispresented in intentional as well as incidental school situations and extracurricular activities, andthus they cover a wide spectrum of cultural, linguistic, and artistic concepts. Their juxtapositionshows an interdisciplinary approach in the selection of the educational content, which indicatesthat the assumptions of ethnopedagogy are realized in the school practice. - Summary/Abstract:The article attempts to determine the degree of cultivating regional traditions ineducation implemented by kindergarten teachers and primary school teachers (grades 1—3)with reference to some of the conditions associated with education and work experience of therespondents. The scaling method has been applied in the study. The Scale Sheet devised for thepurpose of personal research contained 16 questions and addressed 81 preschool and early schooleducation teachers. The respondents answered the questions by means of applying adjectives froma five-degree adjectival scale, where the value of one indicated the lowest degree, whereas thevalue of five — the highest one. The research findings have revealed that the interviewed teacherscultivate regional traditions in their own professional work to high and moderate degrees.Certain differences in the results have been observed, due to the variables such as education andwork experience.

- Summary/Abstract:The paper deals with regional education as a means of forming habits and skills toaquire the regional and cultural values, as well as to evoke the emotional involvement of studentsupon disseminating regional knowledge. The authors present the results of the project KEGA“Educational process with developmental-innovative aspect focusing on a new model of regionaleducation in relation to globalization.” The project was realized by a research team from theDepartment of Education, Faculty of Education, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra,headed by Associate Professor Julia Ivanovicova, PhD in cooperation with kindergartens andprimary schools in the Cedron region — Nitra district, who provided the information concerningthe cultural heritage of the region.
