Summary/Abstract: This article is about the imagological representation of the area around Tuzla in German travelogues in the second half of the 19th century. Since the travelogue plays a very important role as an authentic product of a journey and offers a wealth of valuable information about the country and its people as well as many other cultural and social aspects, it is precisely the right type of text for such an imagological approach. Taking into account the fact that interests in Bosnia and Herzegovina and this region were not exclusively of a literary and artistic nature, both literary and so-called specialized travelogues are considered in the analysis, or different author profiles are taken into account, including Heinrich Renner, Otto Sendtner, Milena Preindslberger-Mrazović. Tuzla, as the most important and largest city in northern Bosnia, is the focus of this article. The time frame covers the second half of the 19th century when travel activity and text production about this area was relatively intense.
