Summary/Abstract: The youngest sector of Czechoslovak historiography is occupied with the most recent period of Czechoslovak history — the development of people's democracy in Czechoslovakia. The main source for knowledge of this period are above all the articles and speeches of Klement Gottwald who, at the head of the Communist Party, led until 1953 the construction of socialism in Czechoslovakia. Among his speeches and articles containing the principle lines for Party and government policy, there are numerous evaluations, analyzing past development. As the Central Committee of the Communist Party represents, among other things, also the center of Marxist thought in Czechoslovakia, the speeches, evaluations and analyzes of its representatives are a valuable instrument for the entire Marxist historiography in Czechoslovakia. Of analogous importance are the minutes of the congresses and conferences of the Communist Party, as well as the resolutions and minutes of the sessions of the Central Committee.
