Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present selected problems and challenges related to translation and print preparation of specialist sources from the history of science and technology. Based on two source editions, which differ in form, language and style of documents, the author discusses selected translation problems. Special attention is paid to the historical and cultural circumstances and the problem of conveying the contexts appearing in culture. The article addresses the issue of the functioning of language in an authoritarian state as well as the bureaucratic-party newspeak in the official documents, which contain specific phrases distinctive for the past historical era. In summary, the author stresses the need for cooperation and consultation with specialists from various fields of the history of science and technology.
