Summary/Abstract: The article presents the figure of George Sand as portrayed in Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz’s drama "Summer in Nohant" and in the staging of the work directed by Edmund Wierciński. Sand became entangled in three life roles: mother, writer and Chopin’s former lover. Her complicated relationship with the composer led to her neglecting her children and her own work. This caused severe mental tension as well as moral dilemmas leading to frustration. Sand’s portrayal in the drama is multidimensional and ambiguous.
