Summary/Abstract: There are several important innovations implemented in education of students of Travel/Tourism at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava. One of the changes is to extend the curriculum of the compulsory subject “Sustainable Tourism”. Pilot course of this subject was taught in the summer semester of the academic year 2010 - 2011. After the course, there was carried out an extensive questionnaire survey among students who completed the subject. It was found that students realize the importance of information about issues of sustainable tourism and that they welcome the course focused on this topic. The survey results also showed that for students of economically-oriented studies of travel and tourism it is very difficult to understand the environmental aspects of sustainable development and that they often tend to underestimate the pillar of sustainability.
