The paper strives to make a comparison between the Czech and the Swiss tourism policy and its financial tools. In Switzerland the national financial sources focus on two areas of financial support, namely the marketing activities and the infrastructure development (esp. accommodation facilities) incl. innovation. The issue is the relation between the Czech tourism policy and the applied financial tools in terms of volume, distribution and targeting as well as the main beneficiaries. The commercial orientation and the efficiency and effectiveness are very important parameters of the system of financial tools used in tourism. A suggestion of how to make the financial tools more relevant to the tourism policy in the Czech Republic has been derived from the comparison.
