Summary/Abstract: This contribution deals with war comics as a genre and its basic features. After a short introduction to the general problem of positioning comics into a literary genealogy the basic characteristics of the war comics genre will be enumerated. We will use Catharine Abellʼs definition of comics genre, where the author gives attention to the structure, themes, narrative content and community expectations that form the genre. The results are meant to be a starting point for the further research in the field of war comics genology.
