Summary/Abstract: The following report analyses the connection between the current legislation of the Republic of Bulgaria, which is a member of the European Union, and the legal provisions in Directive (EU) 2019/790 of the European parliament and of the council of 17 April 2019 on copyright and related rights in the digital single market.The Directive, which is the object of the study, creates a legal framework for harmonization of the laws of the Member states in the European Union on copyright and related rights for the internal market. The main focus is on the digital and cross-border uses of the protected content. Accordingly, the directive provides with the mandatory exceptions and limitations for the copyright and the related rights, as well as contains rules to facilitate certain licensing practices and measures on the use of works and other subject matter.
