Summary/Abstract: Montessori's approach is the aproach that was far ahead of its time and today it is largely in agreement with the ideas of the contemporary teaching we aspire to. The approach itself offers numerous application possibilities in different development areas, with particular 22emphasis on the mathematical field. It provides a range of different didactic materials that can be used in the initial math lessons that are designed and crafted in accordance with Montessori pedagogy principles.In order to determine the possibility of applying Montessori's approach to mathematics, a survey was conducted among classroom teachers. The aim was to determine how much classroom teachers knew about the Montessori approach, particularly with the didactic material developed for the application in the initial math teaching course, and used in their curriculum. Differences were also examined, considering the socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents.The obtained research results can help in designing initial and lifelong learning programs for teachers to get acquainted with the Montessori approach as well as its capabilities at different levels. Future and current teachers can be a source of encouragement for the possible application of the mentioned didactic material to supplement their educational practice.
