Summary/Abstract: Cultural patterns of femininity are part of the process of constructing everyday social life, i.e. constructing objective reality, shape of which acquires the features of reality due to the fact that members of society share its image. Bieńko’s paper is an attempt to present the discourse on sex, corporality and desire in the context of gender. Gender, understood as a comprehensive, complex institutional and cultural order, is a product of social activity, i.e. historically conditioned knowledge that produces the currently accepted repertoire of gender images. Sexuality is a factor of differentiation and delimitation between femininity and masculinity. The attitude towards this part of reality provides a faithful reflection of the culture of everyday life, as it mirrors the inequality between women and men in both the private and public spheres.
