Summary/Abstract: The paper introduces a triangular model of language, culture and thought, discusses their nature briefly and their interrelations in detail. It also examines contemporary challenges, linked to our triangle such as globalization, information society, knowledge society, inter-/cross-/trans- and multiculturalism, and intercultural communication. Since they, and especially inter-culturalism and intercultural communication, are not only popular notions in everyday and scientific life, but they are taught as well, the contents of the paper might be used to form a part of the introduction or theoretical background an intercultural communication course might be based on.
