Summary/Abstract: The study was written on the explanation of a conversation with a retired teacher living in Szilágyság. The writer of the study is examining the characteristics of teachers' biography, the landmarks in teachers' life, the teachers' duties as well as the typical social position of teachers. The interpretation represents that in some cases the teachers' role can be duty forever, or it can be that kind of lifestyle which consists of expectations that are determined by different ideologies.
