Summary/Abstract: Innovations are considered to be the engine of economic development worldwide. Universities and companies are the main subjects in society that predetermine the quality of human potential and development of knowledge based economy. The main aim of the paper was to make assessment and analysis of innovation in education to business co-operations in Slovakia and glance also for regional development. The main resources of information were from the Statistical Office of Slovak Republic, Academic Ranking and Rating Agency and Institute for Economic and Social Reforms as well as well known institutions (McKinsey Global Institute) and reports. There were used multiple scientific methods as well as method of structured interview. The most significant shortage is weak interconnection and relationship between education providers and companies. Clearly, employers need to work with education providers so that students learn the skills they need to succeed at work.
