Summary/Abstract: The presence of the university in the region can have several effects on the region, especially in the economic sphere. Previous studies have used different methods to quantify these effects. Main effects can be characterized by demand or supply side, direct or indirect. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the development of tertiary education in the Moravian-Silesian Region between the years 2000 and 2016. The analysis shows fact that the number of students has changed significantly over time and the regionalization of universities with headquarter in this region has decreased significantly. At the same time, it was found that a large proportion of students residing in MSK are leaving to study in other regions.
