Summary/Abstract: The topic of this paper considers the problem of cultural appropriation in law. The author strives to answer the question why intellectual property law is not able to effectively protect traditional cultural expressions. As a result, they are susceptible to cultural appropriation. Many companies exploit legal loopholes and launch projects referring to traditional works, justifying their actions by the rules applicable in the public domain.
