Summary/Abstract: We are analyzing cultural roots and value patterns which are traditional roots of family life and intimate relations in Bulgarian culture. The interaction between patriarchal wide family system, including people from three generation and new nuclear family patterns, based on equality and shared power y is object of discussion. We formulate and explain most specific characteristics of contemporary Bulgarian family – integrity, ballans and innovation.
