- Summary/Abstract:Georgian river Rioni still hosts the last remaining sturgeon habitat in the Eastern Black Sea. WWF Caucasus Programme Office is undertaking efforts to conserve and potentially expand this critically important spawning area. Long-term hydrological data, such as daily discharge time series, is indispensable for characterising the entire river and this ecological site in particular. GEO Global Water Sustainability tool GEOGloWS was applied to derive long term (over 40 years) modelled streamflow time series for the stretch of interest at Rioni. Discharge data kindly provided by Vartsikhe Hydropower Cascade, was successfully used to bias-correct the global dataset and thus significantly expand time coverage against the period of available discharge data (10 years). Experience with merging some other global & local datasets is also reported in this work.

- Summary/Abstract:The aim of this paper is to review the changes in brand strategies as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic situation and the changes in customers’ preferences as a result of the lockdowns. During the pandemic, brands found themselves in a difficult situation, as they were not sure at the time of the first closure what the best solution would be in terms of customer satisfaction: to stop marketing campaigns, continue them without any changes or adapt to the situation. Since then, consumer research reports have shown that what people needed the most was being surrounded by brands being part of their daily lives to provide predictability and certainty – often even replacing slow-responding governments in providing information. Our paper will summarize the main findings of recent consumer research on this topic and highlight the best practices of brands that have successfully demonstrated their credibility, crisis resilience, and social responsibility in the eyes of their customers.

- Keywords:management training; innovation; continuing vocational education and training
- Summary/Abstract:The present study is based on a survey of enterprises in the south-eastern part of Bulgaria including the Black see region on their innovation activity. It focuses on the contribution of lifelong learning specifically. More than half of the companies comprising the sample have never provided continuing education of managers or have participated only once. According to the correlation analysis being performed training in the field of organization management or production are not related to innovations in new products, logistics and distribution, production methods or supplementary activities. A likely reason for this statistically insignificant link is a lack of effective cooperation between enterprises and academic and research institutions as well as training providers capable of responding to the specific company’s needs.

- Summary/Abstract:The topic of human interaction with nature is always relevant. It is a challenge not only for scientific thought, but also for the daily life of each of us. The unprecedented situation in which we find ourselves and in which we live makes us more responsible. Responsibility is part of behaviour and is associated with long-term orientation of actions. The main idea we defend in this paper is that the conscious search for causality in the relation: „ecological culture – responsibility“ makes it possible to reveal the potential of culture as a phenomenon in solving ecological problems.

- Page Range:82-93
- No. of Pages:12
- Keywords:non-financial reporting; ESG metrics; convergence and consolidation; sustainability disclosure standards; future development
- Summary/Abstract:Few non-mandatory standards on sustainability reporting have been developed in the last two decades as a result of few global initiatives, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the International Integrated Reporting Council, the Taskforce for Climate- Related Financial Disclosures, etc. In April 2021, the European Union updated its Non- Financial Reporting Directive. Moreover, the World Economic Forum issued its new standards on common metrics and consistent reporting for sustainable value creation. These and few other initiatives and standards currently shape the sustainability reporting landscape. But the need for harmonization of non-financial reporting is on its way to change it. The lack of one single global set of standards is challenging the standard setters, policymakers, and other stakeholders and some have already started to cooperate. In early November 2021, the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation Trustees announced the establishment of a new standard-setting board – the International Sustainability Standards Board, to meet the demand of high quality, transparent, reliable, and comparable reporting by companies on climate and other environment, social and governance (ESG) matters. Inspired by the urgency of more holistic and comprehensive corporate reporting encompassing company’s ESG metrics and disclosures, this paper aims at collecting discussions on the future of sustainability reporting through the lens of the recently identified trends in its development.

- Keywords:international production; transnationalization
- Summary/Abstract:The rapid growth of international production until about 2010 was driven by the underlying economics, the supportive policy environment, and enabling technological developments. Changes in direction in the same three factors caused the stagnation in international production in the 2010s. Looking ahead, the trio of technology, policy and economic considerations continues to be a helpful guide to structure the analysis of expected trends. Only the relative importance of the factors, their intensity and their detailed composition is likely to change. However, all three have arrived at critical inflection points that could fundamentally alter the configuration of international production over the next decade.

- Summary/Abstract:Green finance and green banking unite commercial objectives with social responsibility towards the environment for the common good. These are, in practice, a set of activities, behaviours and rules, the ultimate goal of which is to fulfil specific financial and environmental goals. Fulfilment of these goals will contribute to cost optimization, reducing the carbon footprint and improving the bank's reputation. The Paris Climate Agreement laid the foundations for the concept that made financial flows compatible in the fight against global warming. Green finance is directly related to sustainable finance, which aims to transform the economy to create a climate-neutral environment.

- Summary/Abstract:Digitalization is disrupting the automotive industry and in particular the established business models of well-known OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer). New legislations, technological trends, the omnipresence of digital devices like smartphones and changing customer preferences towards sustainability and mobility on demand have stimulated the digital transformation in the automotive industry. This process affects the entire value chain, from product design and manufacturing to supply chain, marketing and sales. New market players like Tesla, Uber and Blablacar have identified the huge potential of digitalization to create new revenue pools and have already entered the market with their interconnected solutions. Other tech. giants like Apple and Google but also smaller start-ups have started investigations around new mobility solutions. Those new competitors with their high innovation power have one strategic advantage. They do not have to carry the burden of an analogue set-up with its high fix cost structure compared to traditional car manufacturers. Therefore, established car manufacturers are forced to transform their analogue business models to the digital age. This research paper will analyze the prerequisites of a successful digital transformation. Furthermore, it will describe the potential to create business model innovations.

- Summary/Abstract:If you think of Germany and sports, football is always the first thing that comes to mind. For more than 100 years, team sport has been part of society and fascinates a large part of the population. No wonder, in Germany alone, there are more than 7 million club members. Sport often manages to connect people in a positive sense. Politics is left out, and the world is associated with many international games. Before Corona, only games of the 1st Bundesliga in Germany had more than 13 million spectators. However, a unique infrastructure is needed to handle the volume regardless of the entertainment concept. However, this came with the entrance of the Covid-19 Pandemic to the succumbing to strict restrictions like plays without spectators, which resulted in economic disadvantages and bottlenecks. No club was prepared for an international loss of this magnitude; thus, there were no solutions.

- Summary/Abstract:The deviation of cells in the battery is likely to lead to a short circuit in one or more cells, which will generate heat and it is possible to ignite the chemical elements in the cell. The flames from one cell quickly spread to other cells in the battery and this led to an explosion that endangered the lives of passengers. Even if no one is injured by a burning battery of an electric car, the fire releases harmful substances into the air, which are toxic and should not be inhaled without a protective mask with a filter.

- Author(s):Radostin Dolchinkov
- Language:Bulgarian
- Subject(s):Social Sciences, Economy, Energy and Environmental Studies, Sociology, Evaluation research
- Page Range:569-576
- No. of Pages:8
- Keywords:wind generators; evaluating; wind farm
- Summary/Abstract:The peculiarity of wind generators as an object of evaluation is that they are a complex system - equipment that has separate elements that can be subject to self- assessment, as well as the fact that the wind generator that produces electricity together with service equipment can be considered and evaluates as a business, through the approaches and methods used in the valuation of commercial enterprises. The second important feature is that the installed and operated wind generator are permanently connected to the ground through their foundations and are essentially immovable facilities. The necessary documents under the Spatial Development Act are being developed for it and construction and installation activities are being carried out. Therefore, in their assessment as an active object, two appraisal competencies are required - an independent real estate appraiser and an independent appraiser of machinery and equipment. When evaluating a wind generator or wind farm, an independent appraiser of commercial enterprises and receivables may be involved as an independent business.

- Keywords:bridge rectifier; synchronous bridge rectifier; energy characteristics
- Summary/Abstract:Synchronous straightening is a technique for improving the efficiency of power converters in power electronics. It consists of a parallel connection of a diode and a transistor (usually a powerful MOSFET). In this way, a rectifier characteristic is obtained, without a significant voltage drop in the forward direction associated with the diodes in the on state. As a result, power supplies run cooler and more reliably and save significant energy costs. The design of converters at high power shows that the use of synchronous rectifier gives a significant improvement in the efficiency of the whole device. The aim of this article is to study and compare the energy characteristics of bridge and synchronous bridge rectifiers used in AC / DC converters.
