Summary/Abstract: This article will address the issues of the nature and legal significance of the „polluter pays“ principle in the field of waste management enshrined in the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (Article 191). The purpose of environmental regulation is to reduce or minimize the impact of human activities on the environment and nature, especially given its impact on nature itself and on the living conditions of humankind.
