Summary/Abstract: The report presents the problematization of the idea of a relation between the contemporary social crisis and the crisis of social sciences. The thesis, which is formulated and argued in the text, is presented in several guidelines. In today’s crisis, existing social problems are gaining new visibility and severity. This fact determines the need for a complete social change based on new social values. The social sciences can be a decisive factor for building or reconstructing new social identities. In this way social scientists could help resolve the current problematic situation and at the same time to build and clarify their own professional identity.
