Summary/Abstract: This article examines the role and place of universal suffrage as a key component of the democratic political process. This right is interpreted as part of the essence of equality in general and as a basic foundation of political democracy in particular. In this context, the question is raised about the privileges in politics, which, regardless of their regulations, are increasingly established as a legal barrier to the realization of full political equality. Some proposals have been made to limit political privileges in a democracy.
