Summary/Abstract: The article examines the legal regulation of the payment of funds from the universal pension funds in the aspect of expectations for additional pensions from the second pillar of the Bulgarian pension system. The different types of pension payments and their realization in the practice of the active pension insurance companies are analyzed. Important challenges to the regulation of the phase of payment of accumulated funds in universal pension funds have been formulated.
