Summary/Abstract: The collection includes reports from the jubilee scientific conference on the topic: "Labor and social protection in the conditions of global public, economic and social changes", held on 31.05.2023. - Summary/Abstract:The current Covid-19 pandemic provoked alternative work arrangements and a large proportion of employees started to work from home. Despite the initial technological euphoria, this change started showing not positive, but serious negative phenomena in terms not only of organization and daily practices, but also of psychological and managerial nature. It brought a lot of new questions and problems concerning all soft management elements especially in the domains of corporate cultures, work motivation and individual psychological responses. This report provides an overview of some major issues of this type and offers ways of tackling them. While there is no doubt that the future will offer a lot more flexibility and various options for combined distant and office work arrangements, this article explains why the current extent of working from home should rather remain as a transitory element responding to the exceptional circumstances.

- Summary/Abstract:The topic of the labour cost is very popular in the economic research and in the public debates, and it is identified in most cases with the wages and the various allowances associated with them. In our opinion, the broader understanding of this concept requires the consideration of other elements, each of which has a different and sometimes decisive influence on the decision to seek a specific job. For some people, for example, leisure may be more significant factor in choosing a job than the wage, while for others the opportunity for development is crucial. Therefore, other elements of the labour cost are presented in the current study, arguing the need for a transition from a monetary to a multifaceted approach in the understanding of this concept.

- Summary/Abstract:The publication analyzes the risks for pensioners and assesses their manifestation and management by the pension insurance companies in the first full year (2022) of the payout phase from the universal pension funds (UPF). Taking into account the risk characteristics of the retirement products regulated in the Bulgarian legislation and the dominant trends of the financial markets in 2022, the conclusion is substantiated that pensioners from the UPF are the most unprotected from inflation and annuitization risks.

- Summary/Abstract:Human resources are the main and most important component of any economic system. Тhe availability of modern equipment and accompanying modern technologies in the transport sector is not a sufficient condition for realizing the presetted goals. The lack of well-qualified and motivated personnel significantly affects the achievement of the set tasks. The presence of well-trained, qualified and motivated personnel is a prerequisite to relatively easily overcome the new challenges the transport industry is facing. The purpose of the present article is to discover the main challenges in the development of human resources in the transport sector in the context of various crises - health, energy and economic. The results of the research show that a change in work processes is necessary when carrying out the transport activity. The impact of the Covid pandemic over the last two years, which accelerated digitization in the sector and changed the skills needed by transport workers, is also examined.

- Summary/Abstract:From its inception to the present day, Industrial relations are constantly undergoing changes caused both by changes and the development of technology and the organization of work. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the uptake and use of digitization opportunities even faster, covering almost all spheres of work. Digitization, on the one hand, creates opportunities related to the creation of new technologies and organizational processes, but on the other hand, in terms of employment, it creates uncertainty and a threat to rental capital, specifically in relation to the production, distribution and consumption of labor. In the first part, an answer is sought to the question „What is an employer brand (Employer Branding) and what are its characteristic features?“, as well as how one can build and manage such a brand through LinkedIn. Emphasis is placed on developing an employer value proposition, how to „amplify“ the voice of the company‘s employees and what tools are used to plan and execute an Employer Branding marketing campaign. The second part of the report is practical and presents the results of a 2022 survey of 253 recruitment, employer branding and talent attraction specialists on the Content Stadium digital content creation platform. Recommendations are made for using LinkedIn to build and manage a digital employer brand.

- Summary/Abstract:The adoption of the European Pillar of Social Rights in 2017 was an important step for the European Union to achieve an inclusive, fair and social Europe. The twenty principles included in it are the basis for the development of the social policy of the union and the member states. In this regard, the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan was adopted in 2021. It sets three main goals to be achieved by 2030 – increasing employment, increasing the number of adults participating in education each year and reducing the number of people at risk of poverty and social exclusion. - Summary/Abstract:The present report aims to reveal some current trends in remuneration and social benefits of warehouse workers in manufacturing and trading organizations of various sizes in Bulgaria. The data were collected using the questionnaire survey method from 91 enterprises and were processed with the help of statistical hypothesis testing toolkit. The results show that the remuneration of warehouse workers in small organizations are predetermined to a relatively high degree, in medium-sized to a moderate degree and in large-sized to a high degree by the formed sector trends. A statistically significant relationship with medium strength between size of enterprises studied and the practice of providing food vouchers is observed.

Despite the dominant accelerationist view, the accumulated results from the 1980s to now also reveal some conundrums related to the Non-Accelerating Inflation Rate of Unemployment (NAIRU) hypotheses. The current period of supply side turmoil has renewed the review for alternative ideas about inflation, including understanding it as a distributional conflict between workers and employers. In view of the need for coordination in the event of supply-side shocks, this appears to be a pragmatic approach.

- Summary/Abstract:The confirmation and improvement of mobility through the main European transport axes is dependent on many factors, part of which are the economic expediency of carrying out the transport, as well as the possibility of concentrating the transport flows in a network generating the concentration and in a certain axis. In this aspect, the carrying out of cross-border railways transportation and the lack of alternatives is part of the importance of the overall transportation process. The purpose of this article is to analyze the emerging complications of transportation in cases of blocked border crossings, their economic efficiency for the redirection of the cargo flow and the need for decisive actions by the state to prevent them. The actual state of border railway crossings in Bulgaria is presented and the possible solutions for their development, including through alternative solutions, are analyzed.

- Summary/Abstract:Europe is facing a migration crisis after 2015. The next strong pressure of migrants is in 2021 after the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine. The European Union has adopted a social policy for migrants, which must be implemented by each member state. At the national level, the State must ensure the security of the population, provide suitable living conditions for migrants and gradually work for their integration. In Bulgaria, negative attitudes of the population towards migrants are observed, which contributes to the emergence of civil resentment and additional conflicts . Bulgaria is still far from the receipts for the integration of migrants into the society and social life of Bulgaria. The aim of this report is to present the impact on labor market trends, to highlight the positive and negative sides and to propose solutions. The developed policy for the integration of migrants and realization in the labor market will help to improve the perceptions of Bulgarians about migration.
