Summary/Abstract: The modern state and its fiscal policy includes a number of instruments through which governments can intervene and deal with emerging social challenges. One of the most important tools is social transfers. The present study aims to analyze social transfers and examine their functional purpose within the EU member states. The study covers the period from the global economic crisis to the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, including subsequent effects of transfers on the socio-economic development of the member countries.
