Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the economic aspects of linguistic landscape research. There is relatively little literature in Hungarian or English dealing specifically with the economic characteristics of linguistic landscapes, and there is no precise delineation of this area of research. The authors define the concept of economic linguistic landscape (econscape) and describe some of the aspects of economy in the linguistic landscape of two border towns, Komárom/Komárno and Komárom.
