Summary/Abstract: World literature, although having existed before, was given a name by Goethe (Weltliteratur), and it comprises the nations of the world in one vast family: a hierarchical, yet fraternal order of families. When we become acquainted with a literary masterpiece of another nation, the act of understanding and reception is perhaps naturally and inevitably followed by a kind of homecoming, of placement. Although literary translation has been called a genre of the impossible, translatability is inherent in the nature of truly good literature. The paper explores important issues of literary translation, while the author also includes some of her own translations of poems, annotated by the herself.
