Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses cases of difficult adaptation of words from foreign languages to the spelling rules in Bulgarian. For example, the specific financial terms call option and put option are used in Bulgarian by transcription of the first word, but they are rarely written according to the spelling rules as a one word: колопция and путопция, as these variants are uninformative. The pursuit of transparency of meaning leads to graphic variations, which seek to make the two components more clearly distinguishable, most often preferring the separate writing кол опция. Attempts to avoid graphic merging of the two components into one word are the reason for spelling fluctuations, which would be a problem for codifying the spelling of these word types in the future.
