Summary/Abstract: For schools, the fundamental question is to what extent cultural heritage, and here specifically classical music, can play a role. In the scope of this paper, we will take an approach that places aspects of musicological research at the centre of music education. What role can musicological research play at schools and universities? In the following article, we will show how musicological (basic) research methods can be integrated into university teaching and school music lessons through relevant questions in a project-like approach. The focus is on exploring the musical culture of a region through archival work.
