This paper is addressing the field of entrepreneurship, management and development of innovative businesses. The aim of this paper is to present the latest research results in the field of innovative and start-up businesses in Slovakia. The article reflects on the up-to-date theoretical background of the issue based on empirical research on innovative activity of the SME sector with a special focus on start-ups.
